In an unfortunate turn, Freeform has decided not to renew Marvel's Cloak & Dagger for a third season. This comes five months after the end of the second season and sources are reporting that options on the cast expired this week. The drama series debuted strong in 2018 and earned a second season renewal but soon afterwards, the series' ratings dropped almost -40% and never bounced back. “We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform told Deadline. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

In the action-packed season finale, Tyrone and Tandy head to the Loa dimension to stop the evil force threatening New Orleans. To finally put an end to it, they must come face to face with their own personal issues that have been holding them back. Freeform announces its programming schedule for August 2018, which includes the summer finales of the critically acclaimed series "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger." Hulu Original series "Marvel's Runaways" will also air an encore presentation of its first season premiere on Thursday, August 2, following the season finale of "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger."
