  1. Disney today has announced that the 20th Century Fox New Mutant movie is being indefinitely delayed as they look for new release dates. While the MCU Black Widow movie is still on the books for a May 1st release, reports are that Disney is looking at alternative dates for it's release as well. These are just a few in what is a growing list of movies being delayed over growing fears of the Coronavirus.
  2. Variety has confirmed from sources that the Disney and Fox's superhero thriller, 'The New Mutants' will finally see an official theater release on August 28th. Tickets go on sale on August 18th. Disney has been bouncing the release for the movie since 2018 and it was expected the company would continue to postpone it or export the film to Disney Plus or Hulu. The movie was originally under 20th Century Fox, but went through numerous reshoots which changed the movies release date five times. “It’s for sure opening August 28th!” one exhibitor wrote to Variety. 'The New Mutants' will be the first new theatrical release from a major studio since the pandemic forced U.S. cinemas to close in March. Check to see if your local theater has reopened and will be showing the movie as only 1,309 of the 6,021 venues in the country have reopened, according to Comscore. This includes movie theaters in New York City and Los Angeles, which are still closed without a set date to reopen. Directed by Josh Boone, “The New Mutants” features an ensemble cast — including Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy and newcomer Blu Hunt — as young mutants trapped in a secret facility against their will. The movie is expected to be the final entry in the “X-Men” franchise, the 13-film series that stretched from 2000’s “X-Men” to 2019’s “Dark Phoenix.”
  3. Vita Ayala makes their NEW MUTANTS debut this December, launching the book into a thrilling new era as the series’ new writer! Ayala will be joined by artist Rod Reis, a rising superstar who’s already brought his unique and kinetic art style to earlier issues of the hit series. On the edge of mutant society, the younger generation of X-Men cut loose in the Wild Hunt—going big, blowing things up, and combining powers to see who gets crowned king of the mountain! In the aftermath of X of Swords, a mysterious threat has taken root on Krakoa. This ancient enemy is powerful, hungry, and all too familiar to the New Mutants, and it’ll take X-Men from all generations to stop it. Join Magik, Dani Moonstar, Karma, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Warlock, Scout, and more of your favorites in an unpredictable series that will explore uncharted territory of the new mutant status quo that kicked off in Jonathan Hickman’s groundbreaking House of X! “The New Mutants (as a group of characters, and as a book) are the center of the Venn diagram of things that I love, and I am honored and stoked as all get out to be able to follow Jonathan [Hickman] and Ed [Brisson] on the title,” Ayala said. “The New Mutants are perfectly situated to start digging into some of the weird and dangerous stuff that lies just under the surface of the new Krakoan nation, to go poking at things that bite back, so expect them to be getting into all sorts of trouble… *ominous laugh*” Be there for the next great X-Men saga when NEW MUTANTS #14 hits stands this December. 4. A new official Comic-Con promo has been released for the X-Men-related horror movie "The New Mutants." Directed and co-written by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), "The New Mutants" is scheduled to have a special virtual panel for the forthcoming "Comic-Con at Home" online event, which will begin Thursday, July 23th at 2pm PT. 20th Century Fox in association with Marvel Entertainment presents "The New Mutants," an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive. New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Maisie Williams, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, Alice Braga Release: August 28th, 2020
  5. Deadline has the opportunity to sit down with X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner during TCA and questioned her about Marvel's Kevin Feige, the Gambit movie and the New Mutants movie. Shuler Donner knows that handing the X-Men franchise to Disney and Marvel’s Kevin Feige is in good hands. “Kevin (Feige) and I started the first movie, he worked for me, he has a great story sense when it comes to weaving each world together, I trust him and I trust where he will take it,” said Shuler Donner. As for the Gambit movie with Channing Tatum; its final result will be determined by the new Disney Marvel when it comes to fruition. The film is currently not bubbling in development. There’s no director attached to the pic even though Fox has it dated for March 13th, 2020. As for Marvel characters, Shuler Donner says that there’s been some thoughts about a new Wolverine down the road. "It’s all in Disney’s playground and they get to decide,” said the producer. Will she be sticking around with the X-Men franchise once Disney takes control? “I don’t know, I don’t think so, certainly in name credit, it’s up to Kevin (Feige),” said Shuler Donner, “I don’t know what Kevin is thinking, I think he’s still dealing with the wealth of characters and trying to make sense of it all.” Shuler Donner hoped to clear up the rumors of New Mutants heading to Hulu, Shuler Donner, who yielded production oversee of the project to Simon Kinberg, says that she’s “hopeful” that the teen-horror pic will receive a theatrical release. The pic is currently scheduled to hit theaters on August 2nd. “They worked hard on it,” said Shuler Donner about the film’s production team, “I want to see it released (theatrically), I’d hate to see it thrown at Hulu.”
