Deadline spoke with a Sony spokesman who declined comment, citing the early-days status of the project, which won’t begin principle photography until early next year. The character of Shriek would be a smart choice as the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of serial killer Cletus Kasaday, aka Carnage, the monstrous archenemy of Venom has a standing history in the pages of Marvel Comics. A drug dealer named Frances Barrison became the volatile Shriek after severe trauma allow her latent mutant powers to emerge. In the comics, those powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others. Carnage has been primary villain for the Venom sequel since a mid-credits preview scene that featured the uncredited Woody Harrelson as the menacing Kasaday from the first film. Shriek has been closely associated with Carnage since her introduction in Spider-Man Unlimited No. 1 (May 1993) as part of the "Maximum Carnage" saga. Casting is underway for the role of Shriek with the search expanding. “Right now the role is not filled, the net is cast wide toward many kinds of actresses,” one source said, adding that the filmmakers are “looking mostly at unknowns right now.” Venom 2 is schedule to hit theaters on October 2nd, 2020
  11. Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today announced an expansive five-year overall television deal with Academy Award-winning and Emmy-nominated writers, directors, and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The pair land at Sony after a highly competitive situation with multiple studios vying for the in-demand team. Under the exclusive new deal, Lord and Miller will develop live-action and animated series in both comedy and drama. The deal allows the pair to develop their own projects for network, cable and streaming platforms, as well as develop and supervise other writers’ projects. The duo will be involved in developing a suite of television series based on Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. The deal expands Sony Picture Entertainment’s (SPE) existing relationship with Lord and Miller, who have a longstanding, fruitful relationship with the studio’s motion picture group. Past collaborations include 2009’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which marked the pair’s writing and directorial debut, 21 and 22 Jump Street and most recently Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, among many other accolades. The duo have multiple feature projects in the works with the studio, including The Last Human, which Sony won in a highly competitive sale and is a live action tent-pole Lord and Miller are developing to direct. All projects will be produced through the pair’s Lord Miller Productions. Aubrey Lee will continue in her role at Lord Miller as Vice President of TV Development and Production. From Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which was praised for its cultural impact and technical innovation to The Lego Movie franchise which redefined what a blockbuster film could be, to the television series The Last Man Earth which took risks by launching an entire series on a singular character, Lord and Miller’s projects have earned them an Academy Award, an Emmy nomination, multiple BAFTA’s and their features have grossed over $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office. In addition to Last Human, Lord and Miller are also developing to direct the feature Artemis, based on the novel by The Martian author Andy Weir for Fox and New Regency. 14. If you are looking for s fun movie this holiday season that the whole family can enjoy, then you may want to check out Sony’s new animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The movie tells a tale of Miles Morales becoming Spider-Man and how he is joined by other Spider-Man based characters from around the multi-verse who have banned together to stop the Kingpin and his henchmen from destroying Earth. While the basic plot is a bit on the corny side, it was offset by stellar animation, strong voice casting, and good character development. The film has a number of big name stars lending their voice talents to this project including Chris Pine, Nicholas Cage, Liev Schreiber and Lily Tomlin. I thought the strongest performance came from Shemeik Moore who voiced Miles Morales. He did a really good job bringing the character from the pages of the comics to the big screen. The animation was very different from most animated movies you will see this year, but I thought it blended the feel of a comic with life-like animation well, especially the facial expressions of the characters. The movie is filled with plenty of action to keep the younger viewers entertained as well as some funny and emotional moments that will keep the older viewers happy. This film features one of the last cameo appearances of the late Stan Lee which had me tearing up a little. Besides that, the movie included a number of cool easter eggs for older Marvel cartoon viewers, including an after credit scene that is not only cool but pretty funny. This is the third animated movie I’ve seen in as many weeks including Wreck It Ralph and The Grinch. While I did enjoy all three movies, I thought this was the best of the three. Going into this movie, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it and recommend you check it out. Grade: B+
  15. In the tension-filled finale to Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps, the web-slinger must rely on unlikely allies to protect the city from calamity. Marvel's Spider-Man: Silver Lining is available for download on the PlayStation 4 system December 21, 2018.
  16. Obviously I am a bit late to the party with this review. I’ve been tied up covering a little event called New York Comic Con so did not get a chance to see the new Marvel Venom movie from Sony until last night. I did catch a few of the early reviews for the film that compared it to the likes of Catwoman, so honestly I went in last night with pretty low expectations. To my surprise the movie wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. That is not to say this is a great movie, because it’s not. At best I would call it a mediocre movie with a number of spots that will make you laugh, mainly at the internal interactions between Eddie and Venom. The overall story is so-so with a plot that involves a corporation called the “Life Foundation” led by a madman CEO named Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) who manages to obtain sentient alien lifeforms known as Symbiotes that he wants to merge with human beings to support life off-planet. Without going into too many plot details, Drake’s plans go wrong and one of the Symbiotes merges with a washed-out reporter named Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy). After that, you are treated to some good comedic moments and multiple action sequences including a wild motorcycle chase through San Francisco and a climactic battle with the villain. The CGI is decent but a little iffy at times. Compared to modern Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Infinity War, the CGI is somewhat laughable at times. Like I said, the saving grace is the interactions betweenn Eddie and Venom. I also recommend staying for a very cool after-credit scene. With the weekend just about over, I am guessing most die-hard Venom fans already took the plunge to see the movie. If you haven’t, the movie has just enough to make it worth going - although I might recommend a cheaper matinee screening. If you aren’t a huge Venom fan or think this will reveal anything new about Tom Hardy’s Spider-Man, then I would say with wait for home rental or pass all together. Grade C
  17. Sony Pictures has released a new set of images and two new movie clips. One of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters takes center stage as Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) becomes the host for the alien symbiote Venom. As a journalist, Eddie has been trying to take down the notorious founder of the Life Foundation, genius Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) - and that obsession ruined his career and his relationship with his girlfriend, Anne Weying (Michelle Williams). Upon investigating one of Drake's experiments, the alien Venom merges with Eddie's body, and he suddenly has incredible new superpowers, as well as the chance to do just about whatever he wants. Twisted, dark, unpredictable, and fueled by rage, Venom leaves Eddie wrestling to control dangerous abilities that he also finds empowering and intoxicating. As Eddie and Venom need each other to get what they're looking for, they become more and more intertwined - where does Eddie end and Venom begin? Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze, Reid Scott Release: October 5th, 2018
  18. A new collection of promotional posters for Marvel's Venom have emerged including a international poster for the World Cup. One of Marvel's most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award-nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom. Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze, Reid Scott Release: October 5th, 2018
  19. According to The Hollywood Reporter, This Is Us star Ron Cephas Jones will be in Sony's Venom. Jones role was not announced. The Ruben Fleischer directed project stars Tom Hardy and Rixz Ahmed that follows the popular Marvel antihero as he transforms from go-getter journalist to powerful alien symbiote. Venom premieres on October 5th, and is the first standalone to come out of Sony's burgeoning Spider-Man universe.
  20. Marvel and Sony have decided to move in a new direction and it doesn't involve the 'Silver & Black' project, which revolve around Silver Sable, the boss of a war criminal bounty org, and burglar Black Cat. The studios have decided to split this project up into two separate movies with the first title will likely be Black Cat. With this change going forward, Gina Prince-Bythewood, the writer and director of Silver & Black is expected to depart, but still produce the separate films. Another female director will be hired with Prince-Bythewood leaves. Sony has access to 900 Marvel characters, and its intent is to grow into more franchises. Sony Marvel projects currently underway are Daniel Espinosa-helming Morbius with Jared Leto starring as the lead vampire and Spider-Man villain, plus projects like Silk, Jackpot and Nightwatch with the studio looking to hire screenwriters for those titles. 21. Sony today released the second full trailer for their upcoming Venom movie which gives us a really good look at Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) as Venom. The trailer also reveals at least a second symbiote (third if you count what looks a like a female who turns here arm into a bladed weapon for a split second in the trailer) which we think might be Carnage. He sports the axe like hands we often see Carnage use but he does not appear to be red, so we can't say for sure. He definitely seems to be the movies main bad guy. The trailer sports quit a bit of action and seems to be heading for a 'R' rating, but overall I am not sure if I like this take on the Eddie Brock charter which seems to be displaying more characteristics on par with Peter Parker than Brock himself. I will try and keep an open mind but not having Spider-Man involved in the character's origin seems like a missed opportunity, but that being said I am liking this more than the original Spider-Man 3 version of Venom. Check out some screencaps from the trailer below and let us know what you think about the movie after seeing this new trailer. Venom opens in theaters on October 5.

Impressively crafted based on Spider-Man’s appearance in the video game, the collectible figure features a newly develop masked head sculpt with three pairs of interchangeable eye pieces that can create numerous combinations of Spider-Man’s expressions, a newly developed body, a highly detailed and meticulously tailored Spider-Man’s suit with a white spider emblem on chest, multiple interchangeable hands for different postures, a vast array of accessories including a Spider Drone, a trip mine, web bombs, Spidey plushy, Vulture Jammer, different expressions shooter with several spider web accessories, a specially designed dynamic figure stand and a backdrop of city view.
  23. Deadline is reporting that Sony and Marvel have selected Turkish-born actor Numan Acar for a character called Dimitri for Spider-Man: Far From Home. He joins J.B. Smoove and potentially Jake Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to play the big baddie Mysterio. Sony isn't making comment, but in the comics there is a Dmitri Smerdyakov, aka Chameleon, a supervillain depicted in early Spider-Man issues. The Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel has Tom Holland reprising his role as the teenage webslinger. Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei also are expected to return. Jon Watts is directing again, from a script by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the pic, which is set for release on July 5, 2019.
