  1. Marvel Entertainment announced at New York Comic Con, a new animated LEGO special titled LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom, slated to premiere later next year. The voice cast includes: Robbie Daymond (Marvel's Spider-Man) as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Ben Pronsky (Aldnoah.Zero) as Venom, Josh Keaton (Voltron) as Green Goblin, Laura Bailey (Marvel's Avengers Assemble) as Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider, and Tara Strong (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) as Mary Jane. In the special, tech theft is now at an all-time high thanks to Green Goblin & Venom-- can our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man put an end to their mysterious villainous scheme before all of New York City is destroyed? This special follows the previous collaborations between Marvel & The LEGO Group: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Avengers Reassembled, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Guardians of the Galaxy: The Thanos Threat, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda.
  2. Obviously I am a bit late to the party with this review. I’ve been tied up covering a little event called New York Comic Con so did not get a chance to see the new Marvel Venom movie from Sony until last night. I did catch a few of the early reviews for the film that compared it to the likes of Catwoman, so honestly I went in last night with pretty low expectations. To my surprise the movie wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. That is not to say this is a great movie, because it’s not. At best I would call it a mediocre movie with a number of spots that will make you laugh, mainly at the internal interactions between Eddie and Venom. The overall story is so-so with a plot that involves a corporation called the “Life Foundation” led by a madman CEO named Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) who manages to obtain sentient alien lifeforms known as Symbiotes that he wants to merge with human beings to support life off-planet. Without going into too many plot details, Drake’s plans go wrong and one of the Symbiotes merges with a washed-out reporter named Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy). After that, you are treated to some good comedic moments and multiple action sequences including a wild motorcycle chase through San Francisco and a climactic battle with the villain. The CGI is decent but a little iffy at times. Compared to modern Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Infinity War, the CGI is somewhat laughable at times. Like I said, the saving grace is the interactions betweenn Eddie and Venom. I also recommend staying for a very cool after-credit scene. With the weekend just about over, I am guessing most die-hard Venom fans already took the plunge to see the movie. If you haven’t, the movie has just enough to make it worth going - although I might recommend a cheaper matinee screening. If you aren’t a huge Venom fan or think this will reveal anything new about Tom Hardy’s Spider-Man, then I would say with wait for home rental or pass all together. Grade C

  4. Sony Pictures has released a new set of images and two new movie clips. One of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters takes center stage as Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) becomes the host for the alien symbiote Venom. As a journalist, Eddie has been trying to take down the notorious founder of the Life Foundation, genius Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) - and that obsession ruined his career and his relationship with his girlfriend, Anne Weying (Michelle Williams). Upon investigating one of Drake's experiments, the alien Venom merges with Eddie's body, and he suddenly has incredible new superpowers, as well as the chance to do just about whatever he wants. Twisted, dark, unpredictable, and fueled by rage, Venom leaves Eddie wrestling to control dangerous abilities that he also finds empowering and intoxicating. As Eddie and Venom need each other to get what they're looking for, they become more and more intertwined - where does Eddie end and Venom begin? Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze, Reid Scott Release: October 5th, 2018

  9. According to The Hollywood Reporter, This Is Us star Ron Cephas Jones will be in Sony's Venom. Jones role was not announced. The Ruben Fleischer directed project stars Tom Hardy and Rixz Ahmed that follows the popular Marvel antihero as he transforms from go-getter journalist to powerful alien symbiote. Venom premieres on October 5th, and is the first standalone to come out of Sony's burgeoning Spider-Man universe.
  10. Sony today released the second full trailer for their upcoming Venom movie which gives us a really good look at Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) as Venom. The trailer also reveals at least a second symbiote (third if you count what looks a like a female who turns here arm into a bladed weapon for a split second in the trailer) which we think might be Carnage. He sports the axe like hands we often see Carnage use but he does not appear to be red, so we can't say for sure. He definitely seems to be the movies main bad guy. The trailer sports quit a bit of action and seems to be heading for a 'R' rating, but overall I am not sure if I like this take on the Eddie Brock charter which seems to be displaying more characteristics on par with Peter Parker than Brock himself. I will try and keep an open mind but not having Spider-Man involved in the character's origin seems like a missed opportunity, but that being said I am liking this more than the original Spider-Man 3 version of Venom. Check out some screencaps from the trailer below and let us know what you think about the movie after seeing this new trailer. Venom opens in theaters on October 5.

  15. In honor of Venom’s 30th anniversary, your favorite Super Heroes and Villains are being Venomized, and it’s safe to say the universe will never be the same. Venom’s first victim, journalist Eddie Brock, is a natural choice for the Pop! Marvel Venom Series. Similarly, Cletus Kasady and Carnage, despite being considered an “I” rather than a “we,” are another natural choice for the Venom series. While it’s difficult to picture the Hulk any color but green, he makes Venom’s signature black costume work for him. Captain America manages to retain his usual red, white and blue color scheme even as Venom. And Iron Man’s determined to fly, even as Venom’s captive. Black Panther and Venom make a striking pairing, which will be available exclusively at GameStop. The Pop! available exclusively at Walmart proves that even Venom can’t contain the hellfire framing Ghost Rider’s head. The Venomized Loki Pop! available exclusively at Target marries the god of mischief’s trademark gold and green coloring with Venom’s penchant for black. It’s undoubtedly terrifying considering what Loki and Venom might accomplish together. The fearful spectre of Carnage’s red and black figure with axes for hands is available exclusively at FYE! Look for all of these to be released in September.
