But did Destin really do that good a job?! Was Shang Chi really all that good?! Honestly Shang Chi benefited very much by how terrible most of the Marvel projects were going at that time. In contrast Shang Chi was not a bad movie. In fact it was an okay movie. By far the best of what was being put out at the time. It's still probably in the lower third tier of Marvel projects but for the time it was just the shot in the arm Marvel fans needed to keep them interested and give them a little hope for the future. Really if you reflect on it the truth about how good a movie is is largely based on if you would ever watch it again. Iron Man, Captain America, Avengers. I've watched them all many times over. And if I come across them while channel surfing I generally leave them on if only in the background. But Shang Chi? Saw it once. Enjoyed it well enough. Never had a desire to watch it again. I'd rather watch reruns of Big Bang Theory. That's really at the very edge of my benchmark. -
