  1. Two sources close to Sony’s upcoming Venom sequel have informed Deadline that the Marvel Comics character called Shriek has been added into the plot of the Venom sequel. Deadline spoke with a Sony spokesman who declined comment, citing the early-days status of the project, which won’t begin principle photography until early next year. The character of Shriek would be a smart choice as the sonic-powered accomplice and romantic interest of serial killer Cletus Kasaday, aka Carnage, the monstrous archenemy of Venom has a standing history in the pages of Marvel Comics. A drug dealer named Frances Barrison became the volatile Shriek after severe trauma allow her latent mutant powers to emerge. In the comics, those powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others. Carnage has been primary villain for the Venom sequel since a mid-credits preview scene that featured the uncredited Woody Harrelson as the menacing Kasaday from the first film. Shriek has been closely associated with Carnage since her introduction in Spider-Man Unlimited No. 1 (May 1993) as part of the "Maximum Carnage" saga. Casting is underway for the role of Shriek with the search expanding. “Right now the role is not filled, the net is cast wide toward many kinds of actresses,” one source said, adding that the filmmakers are “looking mostly at unknowns right now.” Venom 2 is schedule to hit theaters on October 2nd, 2020

  3. Marvel Television and HULU have announced casting for MARVEL'S HELSTROM - the live-action series based on the popular Marvel comic book. The series will mark Marvel's first foray into terror and is slated for debut in 2020. In MARVEL'S HELSTROM, Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity - each with their attitude and skills. Tom Austen ("Grantchester," "The Borgias") as Daimon Helstrom - A professor of ethics who moonlights as an exorcist, Daimon has no illusions about saving a world he has no patience for; he just hopes he can help a few of the people closest to him. In his battle against a hidden world, Daimon is determined to root out demons as they arise, and will not stop until they're vanquished. Sydney Lemmon ("Succession" "Fear of The Walking Dead") as Ana Helstrom - By day, Ana runs a successful auction house and suffers no fools, but her true interest lies in hunting down those who hurt others. Traumatized by her father as a child, Ana is driven to rid the world of those like him, even as she secretly worries her father will return. Elizabeth Marvel ("Homeland," "The Meyerowitz Stories") as Victoria Helstrom - Plagued by demons both real and imagined, Victoria has been institutionalized for twenty years. While she struggles to be herself, she hopes to repair her relationship with her children. Robert Wisdom ("Ballers," "Watchmen") as Caretaker - Caretaker is a guardian of knowledge of the occult. He uses his knowledge and his relationship with Ana to help keep demonic forces at bay. June Carryl ("Mindhunter," "Dead Women Walking") as Dr. Louise Hastings - A psychologist with a strong faith but an open mind, Hastings is head of the psychiatric hospital where Victoria is being monitored. She has watched over the Helstrom family for years, caring for them as best she can. Ariana Guerra ("Raising Dion," "Insatiable") as Gabriella Rosetti - A woman balancing logic and faith, Gabriella arrives from the Vatican to help Daimon and Hastings uncover cases of demonic possession. She wants to save everyone she can, including Daimon. Alain Uy ("The Passage," "Paper Tigers") as Chris Yen - Yen is Ana's business partner and her closest friend -- some would say surrogate brother. He carries out the bulk of the auction house's responsibilities and assists Ana with whatever she needs. "We feel incredibly fortunate to have landed a cast loaded with this much talent," said series Executive Producer and Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski. "From the beginning, we knew we'd need a group of actors who were multifaceted, who could play all the chords any great Marvel show promises to play, from dramatic thriller to comedy to action. It's going to be really fun to watch them work." "Marvel Television is thrilled to have such an amazing cast that enriches Paul's fantastic writing," said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "The ensemble is the perfect way to bring our audience into our Adventure into Fear franchise causing delicious nightmares of what's to come!" Marvel's Helstrom is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios, part of Disney Television Studios.

  5. Have you ever met anyone, of any age, who inspired you to do better, be better, and strive for a better future? Finding young people who have made their own steps and forged their own paths towards the greater good was the first mission of Marvel's Hero Project -- the next mission was to give these real-life heroes the recognition and celebration they deserved. In Marvel's Hero Project, a new series streaming exclusively on Disney+ when it arrives on November 12, several extraordinary, inspiring kids got their time in the Super Hero spotlight for the work they've done in their communities across the country. Their causes are as diverse as they are, and on Marvel's Hero Project, Marvel comic editors found a way to tell their stories. In every episode, each outstanding kid will be surprised to find out that they've been immortalized in a Marvel Comic -- which will be available for free in Marvel Unlimited and the Marvel Digital Comics Store! -- as a brand new Super Hero, putting them among the ranks of the Marvel heroes they love. Marvel's Hero Project set out to prove that it doesn't take an iron suit, super strength, or a mythical hammer to be a hero -- just seeing a problem and having the passion to solve it in a creative way is what made these kids heroes. And now you will be able to see their stories and be inspired by them. Marvel's Hero Project premieres on November 12, streaming exclusively on Disney+. Pre-order it now on DisneyPlus.com.
  6. Deadline has confirmed that Hulu has decided not to proceed with Marvel's Ghost Rider, its planned live-action series starring Gabriel Luna. In May, Hulu picked up two new live-action series from Disney sibling Marvel Television, Ghost Rider and Helstrom, to premiere in 2020. It would appear that Hulu and the Ghost Rider team had reached a creative impasse which could not be resolved, leading to the streamer’s decision not to move forward with the series. Marvel’s Helstrom is still on track. Stephen Lightfoot serves as showrunner and executive producer with Paul Zbyszewski and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb for Marvel’s Ghost Rider. It is unclear whether the series will be shopped elsewhere. Luna played the antihero Ghost Rider when the character also known as Robbie Reyes was brought back to the Marvel Universe in 2016 on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ghost Rider is consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon. Reyes lives on the Texas-Mexico border and when he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles to control the power he wields.

  10. Here's a question. Is there any character you are getting tired of seeing getting a Marvel Legends figure. You see a new wave and that character has gotten yet another figure and you groan in dismay. A character who you go, "No thanks, there is already enough of you, where's (insert character you really want)?" For me they would include: MCU Carol: four in a row in the space of a month and pretty much of the same look as put me right off MCU Cap and Iron Man: Almost guaranteed to be in an Avengers movie wave and they all look very similar Deadpool: Pantless DP,makes me want to never see another DP figure, also he doesn't have that many iconic looks to last.
  11. Sources from within have informed Variety that film, TV and music star Hailee Steinfeld has been offered a lead role in the upcoming “Hawkeye” limited series at Disney Plus. Steinfeld will play the role of Kate Bishop if accepted. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Clint Barton. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers. Jeremy Renner is set to reprise his role of titular bow-wielding hero that he has played through multiple films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently in “Avengers: Endgame.” Steinfeld's film credits include starring in films such as “The Edge of Seventeen,” “Bumblebee,” the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, and for lending her voice to the Oscar-winning animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
  12. The Marvel series based on the Avengers superhero Hawkeye has tapped AMC's Mad Men writer and executive story editor Jonathan Igla to act as a writer and executive producer. The series is being developed for the upcoming streaming service Disney+ with Jeremy Renner reprising his titular role as the bow-and-arrow wielding superhero. The story is due to focus on Clint Barton, a non-superpowered hero, trying to teach another hero with an affinity for the bow, Kate Bishop, how to be a hero with no super powers. Marvel has planned a series of shows to debut on the Disney+ with the Hawkeye series tentatively set for a fall 2021 debut and is part of Marvel’s Phase Four round of releases. Phase Four includes the debut of Marvel shows on Disney+, the first one being The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, set for a fall 2020 unveiling. That is to be followed by WandaVision (spring 2021), Loki (also spring 2021), then Hawkeye. At D23, Marvel chief Kevin Feige announced that shows featuring She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight were also in the works. The key creative team for the Phase four shows include Igla along with Malcolm Spellman penning Winter Soldier, with Kari Scogland directing; WandaVision has Jac Schaeffer as showrunner; and Loki has Michael Waldron writing and executive producing. 14. This custom figure was inspired by the 90's X-Men animated series version, and mainly the Fleer Ultra trading card illustration of him in mid-transition to Wolverine. A not-so-usual custom take on the character! He comes with a mid-transition alternate head and who would Morph be without his signature handgun? The packaging design is a graphic art only and does not come with the figure. 😁 If you're interested in purchasing this one-of-a-kind figure, it is up on ebay for a few days only! ebay.com/itm/401865830257 Follow @dfactionfigures on Instagram 🙂
  15. Saw this on Ebay the other day and wanted to get people's thoughts/opinions. Do you think it's a custom or be considered a custom? To me, it looks like the Marvel Select head was just placed on a Marvel Legends body. If that's true it's kind of lame to be selling it as a custom. Thoughts?
  16. As the final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to roll out next Summer of 2020, ABC and Disney are already in talks about bringing another Marvel Adaptation of a female superhero to the network. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke told Deadline, “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.” While she wouldn’t give away any details, she said the character would be “something brand new, mostly” and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes. ABC developed a show last year and gave a production commitment to an untitled hourlong drama from Wonder Women writer Allan Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios. Written by Heinberg, it was about female characters with superpowers. But in classic Marvel tradition, few details were offered.
  17. I have not been a collector of Marvel Legends for too long now. During the ToyBiz days, when I was much younger, I was more of a pick and choose kinda guy. If there was a cool character I was familiar with, I’d pick it up. At this time, however, I wasn’t much of a collector of anything. I loved Star Wars and Toybiz’s Lord of the Rings line, so I picked those up more frequently, but at this point in my life, these weren’t additions to a collection, they were toys that after a few days or a week, went into a bin or just sat on my bookshelf to collect dust. The closest thing that resembled a collection at all, besides my bins of Star Wars, were Pirates of the Caribbean 3.75” figures, all of which were displayed on a black pearl playset on my dresser. As I got older, I became a bit more picky with what I picked up, and back then, in the early days of Hasbro’s Marvel stuff, often times Mattel had better quality with their D.C. stuff. I was big into Batman for a while, and was able to form a small collection of random Batman characters that fitted my liking. But I still wasn’t a collector, I was just a guy that liked action figures. I discovered eventually that figure collecting was something that I was going to be doing well into adulthood (I’m currentlt in my early 20’s) when I first ever got a few NECA figures and realized there was more quality out there than just kids toys. The Clash of the Titans Persues they made (from the remake) and the original police station assault T-800 blew me away at the time. There were actually 2 different franchises you might not expect that really got me into the collecting habit. The first was Character Option’s Doctor Who line. I was never a major fan of the Doctor Who, but I did go through a phase where I really enjoyed it, and especially enjoyed the figures. They were cheap, but had a high quality and were something other than the familiar franchises I was used to buying from. The other franchise was McFarlane’s 5” The Walking Dead comic and tv lines. I know everyone has their opinions on McFarlane, but I absolutely loved those figures at the time. I still love them when I look at them, simply because of the reminders of the good times collecting and remembering the days when the show was worth watching. This line was a wonder to collect for me. I didn’t become a fan of the franchise until the show was on its season, when I binge watched it on Netflix, then bought all of the compendiums of the comics and read them swiftly. Then came the toy collecting. At this point, there were 3 or 4 waves already out, with new waves coming once or twice a year between the comic and tv waves. So I was able to track down the old and the new, making it some of my first real hunting experiences, aside from looking for one particular figure. Dont get me wrong, these weren’t the only lines I was collecting. I was a casual buyer of the early Star Wars Black Series, and was going back and buying a bunch of the Toybiz Lord of the Rings stuff I had missed, but it was The Walking Dead stuff that turned me into the type of collector that was a completionist, and introduced me to hunting for new stuff and old in various stores. By this point, I was full on collecting the Black Series, and a lot of NECA’s Aliens, but TWD was my lady love at the time. Star Wars was always my soul mate, but TWD was a years long passionate love affair. But then McFarlane decided to come up with the nonsensical Color Tops wave which would mix various brands into one 7” scale series. This brought an end to the comic line entirely, and turned the tv line into a 7” static crap festival. And while they began to evolve into better figures over time, I didn’t want them, I had an almost complete collection in a different scale. Eventually, the brand lost almost all of its popularity and now McFarlane doesn’t even touch it. But it was because of the death of my favorite line that I decided to reach out and see what exactly else was out there for me. Now, I could’ve just stuck with what I had, continued buying Star Wars and Aliens and the occasional Batman figure if the desire struck, but I had a taste for collecting and didn’t want to stop. This is what drew me to Marvel Legends. This was around the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, so I was kind of high off of my first impression of that, and decided to buy the AoA Captain America. I was kind of hooked, but not hook line and sinker just yet. I decided to get the movie characters only. That lasted for a little bit, until my girlfriend bought me the comic Black suit spidey and that was the end. I had to get my favorite characters in various suits, both comic and movie versions, and I had to build my favorite teams. From the moment I knew I was all in, I knew that I was never going to be a completionist. If I don’t care about the character, or can’t fit it into my display, I see no use in buying. If they weren’t on my list, then the only reason I would buy them is to finish a BAF or because I was surprised by how cool the character was despite me not originally wanting them (Bullseye, Black Bolt). When I first started collecting Legends 5 years ago, I had a list, a very daunting list that I thought would go on for years and wouldn’t be finished in all likelihood. But this year and the last were such amazing years for legends, and with the 80th collections and all of these fantastic 90’s X-Men coming out so fast, my list has gotten into the single digits. Doctor Doom is on the horizon of 2020, and aside from some characters like Thunderbird and Warpath and a true 90’s Emma Frost, and a damn classic Doctor Strange, Power Man, and Iron Fist, my marvel legends days seem to be numbered. The movies will continue to pump out, so they may keep me interested in new figures, but the list as I knew it is getting very small. So when, exactly, am I to stop? Ought the list I set out for myself be the end of what I have built? Should I set up rules for myself and limit my hobby and passion? It’s not like I’m going to stop collecting other lines? Or should I? With Star Wars coming to an “end” similar to the MCU coming to and “end” or at least the end of an era, my big tent-pole franchises are ending fast. Soon, my Star Wars list will be shorter and shorter until it too has ended. So should I stop collecting entirely? I mean, I’ve just finally gotten into imports and anime stuff, so maybe those will be the new focus. It’s a very strange time in the entertainment industry, and that equates to the toy industry. Big franchises are “ending”:: game of Thrones, avengers, Star Wars. It feels cathartic in a way. Would I ever even consider limiting collecting if these eerejrb weren’t ending? I know that more brands are coming. I know more lines are always coming. Maybe I shouldn’t stop collecting, but should stop this era of collecting. Look to new brands, diversify. Get anime stuff and Harry Potter stuff, go head first into McFarlanes new DC stuff, go where I haven’t gone before so that the hobby is in uncharted territory for me. I know avengers and Star Wars and all those franchises aren’t really over. No one’s ever really gone. I guess I wonder how you folks feel? If you even got this far. When is it a right time to end? When is it time for a change. To keep the passion alive...
  18. Marvel has announced that Marvel Television and Hulu are working together to bring a crossover episode into the worlds of Marvel’s Runaways and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger later this year. “It’s so fun being able to do something that revels in the Mighty Marvel Manner! Having these young heroes crossover allows fans of both shows to see the adventure everyone has been waiting for and we’ve only hinted at,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television. The third season of Hulu series Marvel's Runaways is set to premiere on December 13th with 10 episodes. In the third season, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase Stein, Gert Yorkes, and Karolina Dean. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico Minoru draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face. The Season 2 finale of the Freeform series, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, aired earlier this year with our main protagonists Tyrone Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger) on a bus leaving New Orleans in hopes of helping out other parts of the country. No details on how Cloak and Dagger will cross with Runaways have yet to be revealed.

  23. Kevin Feige made a bombshell announcement at Comic-Con with a listing of new Marvel movies, which included the forthcoming Blade reboot with Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali. Many asked on social media why the change of using Ali instead of the Wesley Snipes, who played the day-walking vampire hunter in the original Blade trilogy? Well, Snipes has heard the Blade fans and has come forward with a statement that was given to ComicBook.com. “To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’” He continued, “Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.” That said, Snipes has no complaints about the change and feels as he is passing the torch to the new Blade. In response, Ali paid homage to Snipes by posting a picture of him in full daywalker vampire hunting garb via a Twitter post. Source: Deadline
